Library Services

Eligibility & Library Cards

Library cards are available to all Sandoval County residents and non-residents according to library policy. Parents or legal guardians must authorize library cards for minors under 18. Proof of current address is required for registration. Your library card is your responsibility and should not be shared – you are responsible for all materials checked out on your card. Notify us immediately if your card is lost or stolen. Replacement cards may incur a fee.

Borrowing Materials

You agree to return all borrowed materials by the due date in the same condition as borrowed. You are responsible for any damage or loss of library materials. Overdue fines and replacement fees apply as outlined in library policy. Hold requests are subject to availability, renewal policies vary by material type, and you must pick up holds within the designated timeframe.

Facility Use

Library Behavior Policy

When visiting the library, you must respect other patrons’ right to a quiet environment, supervise children under your care, follow staff instructions, refrain from disruptive behavior, comply with food and beverage policies, and keep personal belongings with you.

Prohibited Conduct

The following are not permitted: loud or disruptive behavior, harassment of staff or patrons, sleeping or loitering, consuming alcohol or illegal substances, smoking or vaping (including e-cigarettes), bringing weapons onto library property, theft or vandalism, or soliciting. Violations may result in removal from the library and suspension of privileges.

Computer and Internet Use

Computer Access

Computer use is available to all library cardholders, with guest passes available for visitors. Time limits may apply during busy periods. Computers are for educational, informational, and recreational purposes. Respect equipment and do not alter settings or software. Use headphones for audio content and log out when finished.

Prohibited Computer Activities

You may NOT access illegal content, hack or breach security, download or install unauthorized software, use library computers for commercial purposes without permission, view sexually explicit content in public areas, or engage in activities that violate others’ privacy.

Wi-Fi Use

Wi-Fi is provided for patron convenience. The library is not responsible for the security of your devices or data. Heavy bandwidth usage (streaming, large downloads) may be limited during peak times. Illegal activities on library Wi-Fi are prohibited.

Meeting Rooms and Spaces

Meeting rooms are available by reservation through LibCal and must be used for their intended purpose. Reservations may be cancelled for policy violations. You must respect room capacity limits, leave rooms clean and in good condition, not move furniture or equipment without permission, and follow building hours – rooms must be vacated at closing time.

Programs and Events

Some programs require advance registration. Registration does not guarantee attendance if you arrive late. The library may photograph or record public programs for promotional purposes – by attending, you consent to being photographed or recorded. If you prefer not to be photographed, please inform staff. For children’s programs, age requirements are strictly enforced and parents/caregivers must remain in the building unless specified otherwise.

Fair use exceptions apply for personal, educational, and research purposes. If you submit content to the library (reviews, comments, photos), you grant us permission to use it while retaining ownership. Do not submit copyrighted material you don’t have rights to use.
